2024-130 Right-of-Way vacation for SW 8th Road and approximately 52 feet of the right-of-way of SW 8th Lane LD23-000167 SVA (B) 20240222

Department: Sustainable Development

Description: This is a request to vacate the SW 8^th Road right-of-way between tax parcels 15569-004-000 and 15572-000-000 to the intersection of SW 9th Street and SW Depot Avenue and the vacation of approximately 52 feet of the SW 8^th Lane right-of-way from the dead end at tax parcels 15568-008-000 and 15569-004-000, for the eventual construction of a multiple-family residential development.

2024-131 Single Room Occupancy Residences LD24-000010 (B) 20240222

Department: Sustainable Development

Description: This request is to amend the LDC to strike certain requirements relating to the design and development of single room occupancy (SRO) residences. These are: 30-5.8(C), 30-5.8(D), and 30-5.8(E). Additionally, 30-5.8(G) and 30-5.8(H) would be amended as follows: For 30-5.8(G), text would be added to clarify that one private bathroom per floor is an additional requirement, where in-unit bathrooms are not provided; 30-5.8(H) would be amended to require on-call maintenance staff, as opposed to 24 hour management. These amendments aim to remove barriers to SRO construction, which align with Comprehensive Plan goals of housing affordability and reducing sprawl.

2024-132 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations and Infrastructure LD24-000009 (B) 20240222

Department: Sustainable Development

Description: This petition is initiated by the City of Gainesville to add text to Land Development Code Sec 30-7.5 to require a portion of parking spaces in multifamily residential and nonresidential developments be dedicated toward electric vehicle charging stations and associated infrastructure. These are minimum requirements for new development, set forth in an effort to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, a goal established by City Commission Resolution No. 180442. This amendment would require, for applicable developments, the installation of one electric vehicle charging station for every ten parking spaces and would require that 10% of all parking spaces include “EV Capable” infrastructure.

Department: Sustainable Development

Description: A request to change the property’s existing Future Land Use category from a Mixed Use Office Residential (MOR) and Urban Mixed Use (UMU) to a singular designation of Urban Mixed Use.

2024-65 NE Waldo and 8th Land Rezoning LD23-000137 (B) 20240222

Department: Sustainable Development

Description: This is a request to update the property's zoning categories by removing the Planned Development (PD) classification along with the Urban Transect 4 (U4), and extending existing Urban Transect Zone 6 (U6) on the entire site
